Yotaro - Creepy Crying Baby Simulator Tries to Teach You How to Parent

To be a parent is a hard task. You should prepare as possible before their bundle of joy arrives. Lots of things to be learn when having a baby especially if it is the first one. We have heard of small baby-simulator dolls used to teach people about childcare.  In Japan’s University of Tsukuba, there is a baby robotic simulator called Yotaro. Yotaro is an interactive robotic baby that portrays a variety of facial expressions, movements and physiological characteristics all natural to babies.

According to Designboom, "Yotaro features an interactive screen for a face, which not only displays different emotions and reacts to actions and touch, but it also cries real tears. Honestly, Yotaro looks like somebody stuck a lamp inside the head of a Cabbage Patch Kid. It doesn't resemble a baby at all.” It means the device reacts to the user through a sophisticated emotion-control system that watches and senses what they are doing and provides an accompanying reaction. That baby can do a variety of things that make it much more sophisticated than the standard baby training dolls, like crying real tears on its 2-d face. For this, it’s unusual form factor and anime-like face, the Yotaro still requires a bit of imagination to see it as a real baby.

Parenting is fairly instinctual, and it doesn't need to be simulated beforehand, like flying a jet. Unlike flying a jet, you don't need a license to become a parent.

Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo

Virgin Galactic is a company within Richard Branson's Virgin Group which plans to provide sub-orbital spaceflights to the paying public, along with suborbital space science missions and orbital launches of small satellites. Now the Virgin Galactic invented the unveils SpaceShipTwo (SS2), the world's first commercial spaceship with daily space tourism flights set to commence from Spaceport America in New Mexico after test program and all required US government license.

SS2 has been designed to take many thousands of private astronauts into space. SS2 rolled out slung under the WhiteKnightTwo mothership, which will eventually carry it aloft to 50,000ft before the pair part company and a hybrid rocket engine blasts six SS2 passengers and two astronaut pilots on their sub-orbital joyride.

Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Galactic enthused: “This is truly a momentous day. The team has created not only a world first but also a work of art. The unveil of SS2 takes the Virgin Galactic vision to the next level and continues to provide tangible evidence that this ambitious project is not only moving rapidly, but also making tremendous progress towards our goal of safe commercial operation.”

Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger was on hand to christen SS2 the "Virgin Space Ship (VSS) Enterprise" - something which is "not only an acknowledgement to that name’s honorable past but also looks to the future of the role of private enterprise in the development of the exploration, industrialisation and human habitation of space".

Burt Rutan, Founder of Scaled Composites added: “All of us at Scaled are tremendously excited by the capabilities of both the mothership and SS2. Today is the culmination of a dream that began many decades ago, was stimulated by Paul Allen’s funding of our X-Prize winning SS1 and then moved forward to commercial reality by Sir Richard and Virgin’s visionary investment in a new future for space transportation”.

SS2 will be unveiled after darkness has fallen over the Mojave Desert to the sound of a space-themed anthem from Britain’s biggest DJs, Above and Beyond. Fittingly titled “Buzz” the track will sample Buzz Aldrin’s original moon landing dialogue. Following the naming by Governors Richardson and Schwarzenegger, the DJs will also perform an exclusive set at the celebration cocktail party which will follow and feature the first ever IceBar in the desert hosted by Absolut and the world famous Swedish IceHotel. All the guests will be protected from the desert cold by designer space jackets supplied by PUMA. Finally, to close off the celebrations, all the guests will have the opportunity to view the stunning night skies using specialist telescopes supplied by Ron Dantowitz of the Clay Observatory whose unique tracking cameras followed SS1 into space during the epic flights of 2004.

Vulture - The Unmanned Aircraft Able to Glide in the Sky for 5 years

Aircraft is a vehicle that can fly by being supported by the air. But have you seen an unmanned aerial vehicle that can be able to stay in the air for five years at a time? It is known as Vulture as a Pseudo-Satellite, one of the recent inventions of world.

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of United States headed by Daniel Newman is working to develop an unmanned aerial vehicle. It is known as Vulture due to its persistent pseudo-satellite capability in an aircraft package which means that this aircraft will be able to fly over a single area, communicating or performing analysis for years without refueling or any other maintenance at a time.

While developing this project the company encounters serious problems or you may say an obstacle. One of the major obstacles is how would the designer figure out the way to supply power to such an aircraft during the long missions. Second, the aircraft will carry a 1000 pound (450 kg) payload in winds at an altitude of 60,000 to 90,000 feet. In addition to this, the designer has also to sort out the problems regarding Deterioration of Materials during their long-time exposure to stratospheric flight.

Vulture will be used as a surveillance and communications aircraft, which can be repositioned on an area of interest. It operates in the stratosphere and not on the Earth's orbit. This would provide a 65 dB upgrading in communications capability and will increase onboard sensor resolution.

NEXI - The Robot Express Facial Emotions

Robot is a virtual or mechanical artificial agent made by man kind. A mechanism  that can move  automatically. It is refer to both physical robot and virtual software agents. Robot is an  electric machine which has some ability to interact with physical objects and to be given electronic programming to do a specific task or to do a whole range of tasks or actions. It may also have some ability to perceive and absorb data on physical objects, or on its local physical environment, or to process data, or to respond to various stimuli. Robot doesn't show emotions  because they don't have heart like humans. But there is robot that can be able to express human emotions with facial expressions, called NEXI.

NEXI is a robot displays facial emotions developed by MIT (Massachusett Institute of Technology) Lab's Personal Robots Group in collaboration with Prof. Rod Grupen at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and two MIT robotic spin-off companies.

The head and face of NEXI were designed by by Xitome Design with MIT. The expressive robotics started with a neck mechanism sporting 4 degrees of freedom (DoF) at the base, plus pan-tilt-yaw of the head itself. The mechanism has been constructed to time the movements so they mimic human speed. NEXI's face has been designed to use gaze, eyebrows, eyelids and an articulate mandible which helps in expressing a wide range of different emotions. NEXI has a color CCD in each eye as well as an indoor active 3-D infrared camera in its head and four microphones to support sound localization. It has laser rangefinder which supports real-time tracking of objects, people and voices as well as indoor navigation and has hands that can be used to manipulate objects.

The chassis of NEXI  is also advanced which it is based on the uBot5 mobile manipulator developed by the Laboratory for Perceptual Robotics UMASS (University of Massachusett) Amherst. The mobile base can balance dynamically on two wheels; Nexi has what amounts to a Segway-like body. The arms can pick up ten pounds; the plastic covering of the chassis can detect human touch.

This project was headed by Media Lab's Cynthia Breazeal, a well known robotics expert famous for earlier expressive robots such as KISMET. She is an Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at the MIT. She named her new product as an MDS (mobile, dextrous, social) robot.

This is the video posted on you tube the preliminary video demonstration of NEXI's facial expressions using pre-scripted movements.

Midori Operating System

Windows is the most popular operating system (OS) used. But Microsoft begins the search for a new  replacement software of Windows OS. This software is called Midori.

That is true, MICROSOFT is working on a new generation of operating systems called Cloud-Based Operating System and rumors are there that MIDORI will be their first such operating system, which will eventually replace the Windows OS in a few years time.

Midore is the code name Managed Code Operating System. The code name Midori was first discovered through the PowerPoint presentation CHESS: A systematic testing tool for concurrent software. It is an offshoot of Microsoft Research's Singularity operating system.

The main idea behind MIDORI is to develop a lightweight portable OS which can be mated easily to lots of various applications.

At this point in time, we do not know how and when Midori will end up. Microsoft might very well be working on the successor of the Windows operating system, but if it is, it has failed to give any indication in this respect.

Risk and Benefits of Cellular phones

We all know that cellular phone is one of the cheapest means of communication. We can communicate our love one's, relatives, especial person etc. all around the globe in low cost. We can easily access to the outside world by sending a text message or by making a call.

Text is one way to communicate, we don't need to go to the postal office to send mails and wait for how many days to receive expected mails. We just simply type the message, send it and just for a few a second a message will be receive to the recipient. If you wish to hear the voice to someone you miss or anyone else, or want to clarify and have important things to discuss, then you make a Call. Calling is a little bit expensive compare to sending a text message. The cost in making calls is depending on the range of time you've talk. We can also send money via text message like the G-cash, Smart Padala and etc.

See how technology plays an important role to us. But too much using of Cellular phones caused harm to our health. We are exposing in Radiation when using cellular phones. Radiation can cause biological changes in cells when they are outside in our body. It can cause cataract, memory loss, hair loss, skin reddening and blistering, cell brain cancer and sometimes death.
Too much using of cellular phones is not good. We need to think also our health. As what other say Health is wealth.
